January 16th Dance Recap

Thanks to all of you who came out to the January Shiny New Shag Dance!

What a great night we had!  Despite the cold weather and SOS Mid Winter happening, we had about 82 shaggers in attendance.  DJ David Sessoms kept us out on the dance floor and a big time was had by all!

Jim Sterner and Donna Rosen  had a full class of shaggers looking to learn or improve their 'basic' step.

We started the night off right by giving away some money.  President Mike Rogers and the Board of Directors gave $1000 to our local Hospice organization and $500 to our local Foster Kids program.  Club members brought in schools supplies to donate to our local schools for the second half of the school year.  Mike also announced our club raised and donated $5,575 in 2009.  What a huge accomplishment from 100 fabulous members.

We also had drawings on the night for club member name tag and a few 50-50 drawings.  We enjoyed the company of other shag cub members from S.OB.S., OD, Atlantic Beach, Steppin' In Time, and Cape Fear Shag Clubs.  We appreciate everyone's attendance and support and especially appreciate those that joined or renewed their membership with Coastal Shag Club.

Announcements were made reminding everyone to attend our February 6th Wiggle Giggle - a benefit extra dance to benefit the Brunswick County Foster Care program.  Claire Cozzi announced an opportunity to help Comfort Socks organize donation programs in area schools.  We were proud to learn that a donation was made to the Haiti earthquake victims on behalf of shaggers from the SOS charitable foundation.

We look forward to seeing you twice next month.  First at our Valentine's Wiggle Giggle and second at our regular February monthly dance, where we'll have a Mardi Gras theme.  See you there!!!
