February 21st Dance Recap

Thanks to all of you who came out to the February Love To Shag dance!  

A special thank you to those new shaggers who attended our dance for the first time and to those who joined or renewed their 2009 membership to the Coastal Shag Club.  We're so glad you all came and we love to see our 'family' continue grow!  We are at 73 members - just 28 more to go to reach our goal of 100!

The evening began with Bob and Claire Cozzi welcoming everyone at the door.  Thank you so much - what a wonderful way for us to get to know one another!

There was a terrific turnout of about 70 people with plenty of tasty treats - made with love - to share. Jim Sterner and Donna Rosen gave a FREE 'Basic' lesson to all those interested from 6:30 to 7:00pm and had 4 new shag couples ready for the dance floor in no time.  This free lesson is much appreciated by the club! 

Dancing began at 7:00m and David Sessoms played fantastic beach music and the dance floor was filled most of the night.  During the dance we  discounted SOS cards were sold.  Did you get yours?  We had one lucky 50-50 winner and one Chili's gift certificate winner. 

Vice President John Evans caught us up on announcements asking for volunteers for our fundraising event at Brunswick Forest (March 7-8, 14-15), reminding us to sign up for the May 22-24 Wiggle Giggle, and keep the shagging going in Shallotte at Mama Brava's, At The House, and by taking dance lessons during the week.  He also reminded us to attend the road trips to other shag clubs (S.O.B.S., Waccamaw, and Cape Fear Shag) to help support them, the way they've supported CSC.

The SOS Winter Workshop, in Danville, VA will be the same weekend as our dance in February.  Tickets are still available for anyone who wants to come (or who hasn't gotten enough cold and snow in January!).  Hope to see you all that don't travel to Danville at our February 21st Love To Shag dance.  Bring a friend!  Let's hit our goal of one hundred. 

Our March DJ will be Bill Ruth!  Don't miss it - wear your green so you don't get a pinch.  Hope to see you ALL on the dance floor!
