June 20th Dance Recap

Thanks to all of you who came out to the June Summer Lovin' shag dance!  

A special thank you and welcome to those new shaggers who attended our dance for the first time and also to friends of the club who continue to support our dances - we appreciate you all joining us!

There was a great attendance of about 60 people and most everyone dressed in luau ensembles.  Good thing, it turned out to be a HOT night.  Matt Dillon won the May 50-50 and to celebrate, he brought 12 feet of fresh sub sandwiches.  Thank you Matt - it was delicious and we all enjoyed it along with the other snacks.  Jim Sterner and Donna Rosen gave a FREE 'Basic' lesson from 6:30 to 7:00pm to a class of about 12 dancers and we appreciate them donating their time and talent to the club!  It's fun to get a basic refresher and stay to dance the night away.

Dancing began at 7:00m and club favorite DJ Terry McPhail helped us get our groove on.  Jim and Donna led us in a new dance tradition - and we started with a mixer that allowed everyone to dance together.  So much fun (and not too difficult for us to learn).  Thanks Jim and Donna!  We had one lucky 50-50 winner and one lucky name tag winner - from the same table, no less - and the ladies generously donated their winnings back to the club.  Aren't we lucky?   

We cheered congratulations to our club's newlyweds Frank and Marthy Stanley, who were married June 6, 2009. 

President Mike Rogers updated us with club and event information.  We are on a mission to sell (or buy!) 100 SOS Fun Monday tickets.  The winning ticket wins $7500 and whoever sells that ticket personally wins $100.  So ask your friends and neighbors if they'd like to buy a $10 ticket. Support shagging and possibly win money.  Also we have many fun Road Trips planned, including an outing to a Myrtle Beach Pelicans game and Intercoastal Waterway Riverboat Dinner Cruise.  See Road Trips for more information and plan to join us!
