October 17th and 30th Dance Recaps

What a great time we had at our October 17th Boo Bash!
As always we thank those new shaggers who attended our dance for the first time. We're so glad you came and hope to see you on the dance floor again!
We began the evening at 6:30pm with about 12 shaggers taking shag lessons from Jim and Donna. We appreciate them offering free lessons at our dances! For the first time we had DJ Roy 'Shag Daddy' Childress spinning the tunes for us and he was a huge hit! As an experienced North Myrtle Beach DJ and fantastic shagger - he knew how to keep us movin' and groovin' and treated us to a spotlight dance with his wife. Wow - where'd they learn to do that????
We had about 70 shaggers in attendance and President Mike Rogers made announcements about the availability of 2010 SOS cards and rounds of applause were given to John Evans and Marc Meyer and all their volunteers for the very successful golf and yard sale charity events that they coordinated. Members were asked to give their vote for which charities we would support in 2009. We had a VERY happy name tag and 50-50 winner. The tables were brimming with food and shaggers ate, drank, and were merry all night!

The October 30th shag dance was Spooktacular!
It was a great night full of devilish dancers at our first bonus dance at The Isles Restaurant, at Ocean Isle Beach. We started the dance at 7:00 and our own DJ Jimmy 'Two Wraps' Bruno kept us dancing with the mix of shag and Halloween songs, with a two-step thrown in for good measure.
The restaurant provided snacks and the tiki bar kept the cold drinks coming. It was so great to step outside for some cool night air and hear the ocean - right in front of us. Talk about celebrating beach music!
President Mike Rogers reminded everyone about our Thanksgiving Feast at our November dance and we had one VERY happy 50-50 winner.
About 9:00 we had our annual 'Monster Mash' parade and judges made their choices for the best costumes. Winners were as follows: Scariest Costume - Woody & Maureen Knox, Funniest Costume - Gary Sellers, Most Original Costume - Danny & Carol Everhart, and for the SECOND year in a row, Pat & Teresa Boyd walked away with the Best Overall costume. Honorable mention went to Pam Evans and Kathy Cyrulik. Check out the pictures page to see all the great looks.
